I might not like having to go out in the cold, but I do appreciate the whole cosy, candlelight charm of staying in, having cups of steaming hot chocolate. It inspired me to make the tea lights I showed in my previous post, using the pattern given by Naturenutnotes.
I finished one, and am working on a 2nd:
I made this lovely heart, which only took me 15 minutes to make, with two different sides so that I can change the look of it depending on how I feel! ;)
While going to the Albert Cuyp market in Amsterdam for some embroidery thread, I couldn't resist having a quick look in one of the fabric stores. I stumbled across some lovely fabrics, among which these cute dotted and rose-covered cottons in two colors:
I cut it up in 11 cm strips to make a lovely blanket out of. I'm getting back to that now, after making myself a nice cup of tea.
Ooh, I almost forgot. I went out for dinner with a friend yesterday and the restaurant was awesome. We went to 'Moeders' in Amsterdam:
I would really recommend everyone coming to Amsterdam (or living there of course) going there to experience some Dutch food. They have great 'stamppot', which is potatoes and veggies (could be pretty much any kind of vegetable) mashed together. Although I'm a vegetarian, I was told that the meat is really great as well, same as mom (=moeders) used to make. The restaurant itself is fun as well. All walls are covered with pictures of mothers and the cutlery, plates and glasses are all second hand, consisting of some great grandma/mom stuff.
If you're planning on going, don't forget to make reservations. It's a very popular place to go!
