Last weeks have been crazy at work. I sooo did not get to all the crafty things I wanted to do.
I did bake a wonderful cake last weekend. It was the 'sticky prune and dates cake' in Delia Smith's 'Baking'. I totally loved it. And, as she mentions in the book, it gets better after a couple of days, so I've been enjoying it all through last week. We did finish it before the end of the week, so I'm baking something news later today. I was thinking of making scones.
The library had this wonderful cookbook: 'Home made' by Yvette van Boven (sorry, it's only in Dutch). I really loved leafing through it. The pics are great, as are the recipes. It's full of great breakfast ideas, smoothies, homemade tea, cocktails, soups, ... and scones, which I'm thinking of making after lunch. My mom, her boyfriend and my brother are visiting us later today, so I want to make something to go with a cup of tea.
Despite me being so busy at work, I did get to making pot holders. They come in so handy when baking and cooking.
So now for the ideas I mentioned in the header: This morning, before having to clean the house, I allowed myself to go through some blogs I really like. I came across so many lovely pics and ideas for things to make:
These lovely tealights by Naturenutnotes:
Plants-in-cups by do you mind if I knit:
Cupcakes and embroidered tablecloth by Jane Brocket:
And this funny stone-crochet fishy by Lady Crochet:
Ok, so I was in the middle of this blog (or actually I came to the fish-pic) and then I realised it was already time to pick up our visitors at the train station. Oops... no more time for baking.
Now, with my mom and her boyfriend gone to the theatre, we're trying to pick a movie to watch with my brother. Unfortunately, being the only woman in this company, I have to stand strong not to be forced to watch a 'Classic' (or so I've been told) as 'Dude where's my car'....
I have to get back to that now, little bro' is growing up, so I have to spend some quality time with him and boyfriend. Have a great weekend!
