Saturday was a special day in the Netherlands: Queens day. Basically what it is, is that everybody goes out wearing orange clothes (our national color, and the name of the royal family). And there are lots of flee markets, open-air concerts, games and booze.
The city center of Amsterdam usually turns into total craziness with hundreds of thousands of people coming to the city from all over the country, and maybe even world...
I'm not that into crowds and lost of drinking and stuff, so I prefer going to smaller markets in the neighborhood.
After a lazy morning at home, W and I went to a nearby market to 'hunt' for nice thrifts. I'm glad to say that I bought some strawberry plants:
and this dress:
I'm probably going to be making it into a skirt because my bossom doesn't quite fill up the dress... ;) (Well, also because I don't really like the wrinkled back and because a shirt is more wearable in Dutch weather than a skin-showing dress as this one).
Once a month my favorite flee market takes place in the North of Amsterdam (NDSM werf- IJhallen). I would love to go every month, but I only get to it about 2 or 3 times a year. Don't you just love going through all these lovely valuables? The excitement of finding a super cute skirt/dress/shirt/cup/book!
My calendar for June 5th, the first outdoor market of this year, is marked!
